Coffee Traceability
Rogelio Gonzales PCQC 2024
Rogelio Gonzales
Coffee Farmer, Davao del Sur
A third-generation farmer, Rogelio Gonzales continues the legacy of his father and grandfather who began planting coffee in the 1970s. While his family once shifted to vegetable farming, the introduction of Catimor in the 1990s revived their interest in coffee, leading Rogelio to pursue it with passion and persistence.
Rogelio’s beans are nurtured at the foothills of Mt. Apo, where rich volcanic soil and high altitude produce hard, dense beans with distinct quality. Rogelio Gonzales PCQC 2024 earned recognition in the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition, placing 5th in 2023 and rising to 4th in 2024.

Coffee traceability ensures that every step of the coffee’s journey—from farm to cup—is documented and verifiable. Using scientific data and geographical identification, traceability programs promote authenticity, quality, and transparency, allowing consumers to know exactly where their coffee comes from and supporting sustainable practices for farmers.
